GENERAL PROVISIONS OF HEALTH SERVICES
FOR THE AREA.
FOOT CLINIC.
Mr. O'Brien, Senior Chiropodist, left the Foor Clinic in
February, 1943, to join H.M. Forces, and the vacancy was not
filled until 19th April, 1943. The duties of Temporary Senior
Chiropodist were taken over on that date by Miss F. B. Maclean,
M.I.S.Ch.
At a later date, on 14th August, 1943, Mrs. Turnbull, Assistant
Chiropodist, left to join H.M. Forces. At the end of August Miss
Hunter, M.I.S.Ch. was appointed to assist on Mondays and
Wednesdays. On 12th October Mr. N. Pay took over duties on
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, leaving only one Chiropodist on
the Saturday session.
By diminishing the time allocated to each patient an effort was
made to overtake the arrears of appointments which had accumulated
owing to shortage of staff, and in this way the time patients
had to wait for appointments was reduced by a fortnight. Despite
the shortage of staff the number of treatments given to patients
during the year was only 626 less than those of the previous year.
Summary of Attendances and Treatment.

The number of patients who attended for treatment was 1,176; and the total treatments given were 5,838. The average number of attendances per patient was 4.96.
