SECTION F.
FACTORIES.
THE FACTORIES ACT, 1937.
Basement Bakehouses.
In accordance with the Act a report was submitted relating to
the result of an examination which had been made of the basement
bakehouses used as bakehouses at the date of the passing of the
Factories Act, 1937, and in respect of which a certificate of suitability
had been issued by the Council under the Factories and
Workshops Act, 1901. The Council decided that one basement
bakehouse was suitable as such as regards construction, height,
light, ventilation and hygienic respects, and that a notice be given
that the certificate issued in respect thereof should continue to
operate so long as such bakehouse may otherwise lawfully be used
but without prejudice to the power of the Council to revoke the
certificate as the result of a subsequent examination. With regard
to the other four basement bakehouses, the Council decided that
these premises were not suitable for use as such and that notice
be given that the certificates issued in respect thereof should cease
to have effect after the expiration of a period of 12 months. The
owner of two basement bakehouses appealed against the Council's
decision.
