Food and Drugs Act, 1938.
Prior to 1st October, 1939, the County Council was the Authority
responsible for the administration of the Food and Drugs Act,
but on and after that date the Leyton Corporation took over the
responsibility for the administration of the Act and the enforcement
of its provisions.
Section 66 of the Act states that:—
" Every Food and Drugs Authority shall appoint in
accordance with the provisions of this section one or
more persons (in this Act referred to as ' public analysts ')
to be analysts of foods and drugs within their area,"
and in accordance with the provisions of this section your Council
have appointed—with the approval of the Ministry of Health—
Dr. Bernard Dyer, D.Sc., F.I.C., and Mr. George Taylor, F.I.C.,
as joint public analysts in the Borough of Leyton.
The number of samples taken for analysis under the provisions
of this Act to the 31st December was 14, as follows :—
