Demolition.
In accordance with the provisions of the Housing Act, 1936,
the Local Sanitary Authority—acting on official representations
made by the Medical Officer of Health—has continued to deal with
the demolition and clearance of existing slum property in the area.
Scheduled for demolition in 1937, and demolished in 1939:—
590, 592 and 594, High Road, Leyton, E.10.
Scheduled for demolition in 1938, and demolished in 1939:—
35, Kingston Road.
9a and 10, Forest View.
99 and 101, Harrow Road.
Schedided in 1937 and not yet demolished :—
596, High Road, Leyton, E.10.
Scheduled in 1938; offers to carry out repairs accepted and
repairs not yet completed:—
103 and 105, Harrow Road.
Repair of Unfit Houses.
In nine instances it was found necessary to take legal proceedings
for non-compliance with a notice served to remedy a
nuisance in accordance with the Public Health Act, 1936:—
(1) The occupier of a house was summoned, and an order was
made to carry out the necessary work within 14 days.
(2) In two cases the owners were required to pay £1 1s. 0d.
costs, and orders were made for the necessary work to be
carried out within 14 days.
(3) In two cases the owners were fined £2 0s. 0d. with £1 1s. 0d.
costs, and orders were made for the necessary work to be
carried out within 21 days.
(4) Proceedings against the owner of four houses were withdrawn
on the owner paying the Council's costs of £2 2s. 0d.
and undertaking to carry out the necessary work within
seven days.
