STAFF.
As mentioned in last year's Report, William Nicoll,
M.D. (St. And.), D.P.H. (Cambs.), was appointed Assistant
School Medical Officer late in that year. He carried out routine
inspection of "Entrants" from May 1st until July 31st, when he
resigned to take up the appointment of Assistant Medical Officer
of Health at Battersea.
Cecilia McEwan-Martin, M.B., Ch. B. (Glasg.), was appointed
to fill the vacancy thus created, and commenced duties on September
1st.
John Kennedy, M.B., Ch.B. (Glasg.), a local practitioner, who
was mentioned in last year's Report as assisting in school inspection,
was re-appointed to this work, and he has devoted three
sessions per week to it.
From November our staff of School Nurses has been increased
from three to four.
The School Oculist, A. H. Thompson, M.D. (Edin.), resigned
at the end of September, and Lizzie Smith-Clark, M.B., Ch.B.
(Edin.) was appointed in his stead.
Our second School Dentist, James E. Horton, L.D.S.R.C.S.
(Eng.), commenced his duties in May.
SCHOOL CLINICS.
INSPECTION CLINIC.
As previously reported, the Inspection and Minor Ailments
Clinic are held every morning at the Town Hall, and are closely
associated, children being passed on from the Inspection to the
Treatment Clinic. Verminous cases, and children in need of
such treatment as is available at the School Clinics, and who are
noted as requiring attention during the course of medical inspection
at the schools, are referred to the Inspection and Treatment
Clinics,
