OPHTHALMIA NEONATORUM.
18 notifications were received—11 from doctors and 9 from
midwives. 2 of these cases were notified both by doctor and
midwife.
All the cases were visited and followed up. At the end of the
year, of the 18 cases 16 were cured without damage to vision.
The remaining 2 cases removed to other districts, and no information
as to their ultimate progress is obtainable. 11 were treated
by private practitioners and 7 at hospitals.
TUBERCULOSIS.
188 deaths occurred from all forms of Tuberculosis, representing
a death-rate of 1.7 per 1,000 of the population. The
corresponding figures for Pulmonary Tuberculosis were 156 and
1.4.
Notifications of 242 cases of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and 64
of other forms of Tuberculosis were received during the year.
These cases were attended to by the Tuberculosis Officer or
his staff and verbal and written instructions given as to the
necessary precautions to be taken to prevent the spread of the
disease.

Wednesdays 2.30—4.0 ,,

Thursdays 6.0—8.0 ,,
Fridays 9.30 a.m. to 12.0 p.m.
