an intermediate group comprising all 8 year old children has been
postponed until after the war with the consent of the Board of
Education.
Children who at previous inspection have been found in need
of treatment have been re-examined, and others known as
" Specials," on whom Head Teachers desired an opinion, have
also been inspected.
At the end of the vear GG children, who were due for examination
as "Leavers," had not been seen. These were inspected this
year, but for the sake of completeness they are included in the
figures for 1915.
Head Teachers have sent notices to the parents of children
about to be inspected, informing them of the date and time when
their children would be examined and inviting them to be present.
These invitations were accepted as follows:—Of the Entrants,
86.3% of the boys and 90% of the girls; and of the Leavers, 44.5%
of the boys and 76.5% of the girls were accompanied by a parent.
All examinations have been conducted on school premises,
usually in a class room and sometimes in a teacher's room. There
have been but few objections by parents to the medical examination
of their children.
The objections were received at the following Schools:—
