NOTES ON SANITARY WORK AND MATTERS
INCIDENTAL THERETO.
SEWERAGE AND DRAINAGE.
The Cann Hall Estate and Crescent Road Sewers to the
extent reported in last year's Report have been re-laid.
The surface water drains in Arundel and Borthwick Roads
were recommended to be re-laid for a distance of about 100 yards,
that in Ramsay Road from Odessa Road to Tavistock Road was
similarly dealt with, as was also a small portion of the Sewer in
the High Road, Leytonstone, which infringed on the private
grounds of some houses, numbering 535 to 571.
Many private drains have been re-constructed, for particulars
of which see the Sanitary Inspector's Report.
SEWAGE DISPOSAL.
No alteration in the method of disposing of our sewage has
been under contemplation. The scheme for admitting our sewage,
together with that of several neighbouring authorities, into the
London County Council's Sewers has not yet materialised.
The new circular tank at the Sewage Works, to hold 500,000
gallons, the consideration of which by the Council was reported
last year, has been commenced.
12,250 tons of sludge have been purchased of us during the
year.
POLLUTION OF RIVERS AND STREAMS IN THE
DISTRICT.
The Dagenham Brook and Waterworks River continues to be
polluted by the effluents of Walthamstow and Leyton.
