REPORT OF SANITARY INSPECTOR.
TO THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE
LEYTON URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL.
Gentlemen,—
I present to you my Twenty-first Annual Report, for the year
ending December 31st, 1911, giving full particulars of the work
carried out in the Sanitary Department.
INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
The number of cases of Infectious Diseases notified during
that period was 983, as compared with 912 last year. These 983
cases occurred in 646 houses.
Under the superintendence and direction of the Medical Officer
of Health the infected houses have been visited ; instructions given
as to isolation of the infectious sick ; and where such cases have
been treated at their homes, subsequent visits have been made to
see that our instructions have been carried out. In investigating the
probable source of infection, inquiries have been made concerning
milk supply, schools attended, the nature of employment of the
inmates, and also whether any public books, &c., are on the premises.
Necessary steps have been taken in connection with the above
matters to prevent the spread of disease.
