During the year 2,931 births were registered, giving a birthrate
of 23.5 per 1,000 of the population.
Of these 1,475 were males and 1,456 females.
The corresponding rate for England and Wales was 24.4; for
the 77 Great Towns, 25.6; and for London, 25.0.
Our birth-rate for 1910 was 24.4 per 1,000 of population.
