Deaf children are taken by arrangement with the County
Borough of West Ham into one of their schools.
Taken as a whole the schools themselves are in a satisfactory
state, though I am of opinion that more routine cleansing is
desirable.
All the schools have water closets of various modifications of
the trough type. The water is that supplied by the Metropolitan
Water Board.
The schools are disinfected from time to time under my
direction as I consider necessary, all having been done since
Christmas, 1907.
I have instructed Dr. Kirkhope to let me know of any instance
that comes under his notice during his inspections of insanitary
•conditions in order that I may report them and get them remedied.
In concluding this Report, Ladies and Gentlemen, I must pay
a tribuie of appreciation to your teachers, whom I have found
to take an intelligent interest in the work and willing to give
every assistance.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
J. FRANCIS TAYLOR.
