ANNUAL REPORT
of the
MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH, 1896.
Gentlemen,
I beg to present to you my Annual Report for 1896.
The weather at the commencement of the year was extremely
mild, there being very few frosts and no snow.
Fine weather and rainy cold days alternated till the end of May,
when a long spell of hot and dry weather set in, which, with the
exception of a thunderstorm at the end of June, and occasional showers
in July, continued to the second week in August. From the latter
date until the end of the year the rainfall was in excess of the average.
During the latter three months there were occasional frosts,
varied with fogs and damp weather.
