BETHNAL GREEN SCHOOLS.
This Institution has been remarkably free from epidemic disease
this year, and it will be seen from Table XII. that seven cases of
Scarlet Fever and one of Diphtheria were notified, comparing most
favourably with the returns of 1895. Two cases—one of Scarlet Fever
and one of Diphtheria—were sent to Homerton. There were only two
deaths during the year.
ST. AGNES' ORPHANAGE.
There have been about 30 cases of Measles and three or four of
Whooping Cough during the year.
There were 34 cases of Scarlet Fever, mostly occurring at the
end of the year. The severer cases were removed to Hospital, the
milder ones receiving treatment in the Infirmary belonging to the
Orphanage. It was impossible to discover the source of the infection.
There were no fatal cases.
There were two cases of Typhoid Fever, one of which, an adult,
terminated fatally.
The only other death during the year was that of a boy with
Spinal Disease.
FOREST HOUSE.
There were two cases of Erysipelas and about nine cases of
Epidemic Skin Disease.
There was only one death during the year.
