Pet Animals Act, 1951.
A result of this coming into force was the provision locally of
rules governing the keeping of animals within the terms of this Act.
Various aspects of the question such as accommodation, ventilation,
lighting, temperature, cleanliness, food and drink, delivery of animals,
prevention of spread of infectious disease, fire precautions, the display
of animals and the storage of feeding stuffs, were covered comprehensively
and were brought to the notice of persons applying for a
licence. Due to our detailed inspection and the co-operation of the
persons responsible, we have brought about a considerable improvement
in premises and have no reason to doubt that this satisfactory
outcome will continue to be reflected in a satisfactory everyday practice.
12 licences to keep a Pet Shop were issued during the year.
Rag Flock and Other Filling Materials Act, 1951.
One address in the Urban District was registered during the year
pursuant to the provisions of Section 2 of this Act.
Five samples were taken during the year and in one instance
an unsatisfactory report was received. This sample (cotton felt) was
manufactured in a neighbouring district and the matter was pursued
with the Authority concerned.
