Social Conditions.
The development of new estates still continues and the
District has become mainly residential in character. As most of
the houses which are being built are occupied by new comers to the
District the population is increasing very rapidly.
In the south ward, agriculture, market gardening and other
outdoor work are the principal occupations.
In the north-west ward many persons are employed in transport
undertakings (railway, omnibus, &c.)
There are no occupations which have any marked influence
on the Public Health.
