Inspection and Supervision of Food.
(a) Milk Supply.
There are 7 producers of milk in the district.
Dairy farms and dairies are inspected frequently in connection
with the Milk and Dairies Order, 1926. 23 samples of
milk were obtained and submitted to the Counties Laboratory for
examination and report on bacterial content and cleanliness. 3 of
these were not satisfactory and had to be examined again to obtain
a better result.
Altogether 15 reports were satisfactory and 8 were not
satisfactory. In each case the matter was taken up with the producer.
Milk Special Designations Order, 1923.
Six firms have been granted licences by the Council to sell
graded milks in the district, of which 2 retail Certified Milk, 5 retail
Grade A (tt) Milk, 2 Grade A Pasteurised Milk, 1 Grade A Milk,
and 3 Pasteurised Milk.
