No arrangements are made in this district for any
Institutional provision for unmarried mothers, illegitimate
infants or homeless children.
Ambulance Facilities.
(a) For Infectious Cases.—A motor ambulance is
now provided at the Isolation Hospital for all infectious
cases in the district. This is a great improvement on the
old horse ambulance, as cases can be removed to hospital
in much less time than previously, a very great point,
particularly with cases of Diphtheria.
(b) For Non-Infectious and Accident Cases.—Your
Council have agreed to accept liability for payment for
the use of an ambulance for accident cases occurring
within the district, provided at the request of the Police,
or a Doctor, or any of the Council's responsible Officers.
Application has also been made to the Minister of
Health for an Order declaring Section 50 of the Public
Health Acts Amendment Act, 1907, to be in force in
every parish within the district.
Hand ambulances are kept at the Institute, Stanmore,
and at the Edgware and Pinner Police Stations,
for non-infectious and accident cases. In any emergency
the Hendon Fire Brigade Ambulance is available, and
also the Wealdstone Police Motor Ambulance. In addition
there is a V.A.D. Motor Ambulance at Pinner for
similar cases.
Clinics and Treatment Centres.
Maternity and Child Welfare Centres, Day Nurseries,
School Clinics, Tuberculosis Dispensaries, and V.D.
Centres are under the control and administration of the
County Council.
Public Health Officers of the Local Authority.
(1) Medical Officer of Health, part-time, who is also
Medical Officer to the Isolation Hospital.
