SECTION 47.
This section deals with securing the necessary care and attention for persons
who
(a) are suffering from grave chronic disease or, being aged, infirm or
physically incapacitated, are living in insanitary conditions and
(b) are unable to devote to themselves, and are not receiving from other
persons, proper care and attention.
During the year under review it was not found necessary to take formal action
in any case.
Twenty-four cases, however, where it was thought that the person might be in
need of some attention, were brought to the notice of the Public Health Department.
Each case was visited and considered separately and where necessary advised how
they could best be helped by the existing voluntary and statutory services.
Che case, an old lady of 80 years, was brought to the notice of the department
towards the end of November and all efforts to persuade her to enter a home failed.
