* This case, a service man, although his home address was in the
Borough of Hendon, was attached at the time of his death to a service
station elsewhere. In consequence, his death was assigned to
that area and is not shown in the death returns for the Borough of
Hendon.
Typhoid Fever.
The one ease notified during the year was a woman, said
to be suffering from Gastro-Enteritis, who was admitted to
hospital.
Bacteriological investigations, however, indicated, and
ultimately confirmed, that she was suffering from Typhoid
Fever. No likely source of infection could be ascertained, the
patient being an elderly woman who left her house very little
and had no occasion to take meals elsewhere.
There were, however, three contacts who were remotely
concerned with the preparation and handling of food. These
contacts were excluded from work pending the results of
bacteriological examinations, which, when received, proved
to be negative.
Para-Typhoid Fever.
All the four cases notified were confirmed as ParaTyphoid
B. They were isolated cases between which there
was no connection.
