INSPECTION OF PLACES WHERE FOOD IS
PREPARED.
Constant observation has been kept on all shops and
stalls in the district where food is sold and prepared for sale.
In no instance was any unsound food deposited or exposed
for sale. The following articles were examined and
condemned as unsound, having been voluntarily offered
for inspection, and were subsequently surrendered and
destroyed:—
18 stones, 3 lbs. Beef (hind quarter). Bruised.
7 tins Toffee. Mildewed.
1 tin Chocolate. Mildewed.
54 boxes of Assorted Confectionery. Mildewed.
92 tins of Sweets. Mildewed.
22 7-lb. jars of Jam. Fermented.
48 tins of Salmon. Tins blown.
48 tins of Sardines. Tins blown.
Restaurant kitchens and a manufactory where potatoes
are prepared for sale as "Crisps" have been visited from
time to time.
SALE OF FOODS AND DRUGS ACTS.
The Administrative body under these Acts is the Middlesex
County Council and their Inspectors have taken for
analysis 220 Samples of Food.
The following table showing the Articles purchased with
the result of their analysis was kindly supplied by Mr. R.
Robinson, Chief Officer of the Public Control Department.
