This method gives a population of 49,54 3 persons, not
including those in Public Institutions. I also checked these
figures by the Logarithm method, which gives 48,968 persons.
Upon the former population the Birth and other Mortality
rates aire based in the substance of my Report.
Although a marked decrease in building operations
occurred during the year. 501 new houses were erected and
occupied, giving an increase in the population of 2,180 persons.
The greater portion of the new houses were erected

The corrected general Death Rate 10.44 per 1,000 compares
favourably with previous years.
The Infantile Mortality Rate, 73 per 1,000, is low and
satisfactory.

notified during the year, and no disease assumed epidemic
form. The occurrence of other non-notifiable diseases,

The Isolation Hospital afforded the necessary accommodation

Fifty Artizan dwellings in the Child's Hill district are
completed and occupied.
