assistance from psychiatric, social work and residential staff,
are able gradually to rejoin society after a stay in the hostel.
A group home for four ex-residents from the hostel was
opened during the year. This was a house made available by
the Council, and four residents (three male and one female) at
Collier Lodge who had no other home took up residence,sharing
expenses and the domestic duties involved in running the
home.
Day Centre
In October 1970, staff were appointed to undertake the
preparatory work required to open a Day Centre for patients
recovering from mental illness, and the first patients were admitted
in the following January.
