Incontinent Laundry Service
The laundry service provided by the Department collected
a total of 14,319 articles from the homes of incontent patients
for laundering at St. George's Hospital. Collection and delivery
of the articles continues to be undertaken twice weekly.
Recuperative Holidays
71 recommendations for recuperative holidays were received
from general practitioners and hospitals during the year. 58 were
sent to various private convalescent homes, the normal period
being two weeks, and the remaining 13 did not avail themselves
of the facilities offered.
Nursing Homes
Two private nursing homes are registered in the Borough,
both of which are regularly inspected by the staff of the Health
and Welfare Department. These homes provide a total of 41 beds
for acute and chronic sick patients.
