Immunisation & Vaccination
Details of the new schedule of vaccination and immunisation
introduced in 1969 were included in my last Annual Report.
Under this revised schedule, immunisation does not commence
until the child has attained six months of age and this postpones
the date by which the child is fully protected. It is, therefore,
necessary to refer to children born in 1968 to obtain appropriate
vaccination rates. These are as follows with the national rates
given for comparative purposes:-
Whooping Cough | Diphtheria | Poliomyelitis | Tetanus | Measles | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Havering | 88 | 93 | 93 | 93 | 48 |
England | 79 | 81 | 79 | Not available | Not available |
49% of children under 2 years of age had been vaccinated
against Smallpox at 31.12.70. This compares with an equivalent
figure of 35 for England.
