therefore, come within the scope of this Act. The fee for each
of these annual licences is £10.
The Riding Establishments Act, 1970 was passed during
1970 and comes into operation on 1st January, 1971. This
contains several important new conditions, including adequate
insurance and also amends the Act of 1964.
Animal Boarding Establishments Act. 1963
The nine annual licences authorising persons to keep an
Animal Boarding Establishment(cats and dogs) were all renewed
during the year, the fee for each licence being £2.
The total boarding capacity authorised is 539 dogs and
203 cats.
Performing Animals (Regulation) Act, 1925
There are no current registrations under this Act.
Paddling Pools
Ten samples were taken from the Council's paddling pools
during the year and all were satisfactory.
Swimming Pools
A total of 31 bacteriological and 31 chemical samples
were taken from the three public swimming pools during the
year, and in each case a satisfactory report was received.
The total number of school swimming pools is now 15.
Regular sampling is carried out and 60 bacteriological samples
and 61 chemical samples were taken during theyear. All samples
were generally satisfactory.
Establishments for Massage or Special Treatment
Eighteen licences authorising persons to carry on an Establishment
for Massage or Special Treatment were renewed for
the period 1st April, 1970 to 31st March, 1971. These licences
(annual fee £1.05) were in respect of 15 chiropodists, 1 physiotherapist
and two beauticians. One chiropodist, however, retired
at the end of the year and the practice closed down.
