Hospital— all these cases were more or less sporadic in
character.
Enteric Fever.
One case was notified. The disease was contracted,
developed, and treated at St. Bartholomew's Hospital.
Puerperal Fever.
One case was notified and proved fatal.
Erysipelas.
There were eight cases, three of which occurred in
the Asylum.
Mumps.
There was a sharp outbreak of this disease in
December just previous to the Xmas holidays.
Glenthorne Road Infants School was badly affected
there being 49 cases.
The Xmas holidays seemed to have checked the
spread of this complaint for enquiries made in the early
days of 1914 showed that very few children were absent
from school on this account.
Whooping Cough.
There have been a few cases of this disease during
the year.
Measles.
There has been marked decrease in the number of
cases.
Cancer.
There were 11 deaths, giving a death-rate of 0.8.
Infectious Diseases other than those notifiable under
the Act.
1913 is the fourth year of systematic notification of
diseases by school teachers.
The following notifications have been received from
the schools excluding those renotified under the Notification
Act.
