Bacteriological Examinations.
The following is the record of work done during the
past year by this very appreciated aid to diagnosis, of
the specimens submitted for examinations 20 were swabs
from the throat or ear, 19 Sputa from Phthisis and a
scraping of suspected Ringworm; of the 20 Swabs 17,
gave a negative result, two, the Klebs Loeffler Bacillus
and one, the Hoffman Bacillus.
Of the 19 specimens of suspected Sputa 11, gave
negative results, and in 8 the Tubercle Bacillus were
present in moderate numbers.
The suspected Ringworm scraping gave a negative
result.
The total number of examinations made was 40—as
against 26 for 1912. The increase is due to the larger
number of examinations for the Tubercle Bacillus being
19 against 8 for 1912.
No specimens were sent for the Widal test for Enteric
against one in 1912.
