The number of houses at the end of the year 1896 was 1,356,
of these 1,337 were occupied and 19 unoccupied.

The population according to Census 1871 was 2,203, according
to Census 1881 was 4,405, according to Census 1891 was 6,716.
The estimated population to middle of 1896 was 8,377. If the
population of Asylum be added to this, the population of whole
District is estimated at 11,227.

The number of deaths that occurred in the District during
1896 was 72, the deaths occurring outside District of persons
belonging to it, and those occurring inside District, of persons not
belonging to it, have been taken into consideration.
The number of births was 102 males, 111 females, making a
total of 213.
