An application was received from the owner of the above
property for the Closing Order made on the above property to be
rescinded, the owner giving an undertaking to carry out the work
necessary to render the premises fit.
Upon completion of the work the Order was cancelled.
Repair of Insanitary Houses
An appeal by the owner of five houses against the Council's
notice to repair the property was heard at the County Court. The
Judge, after hearing the evidence and inspecting the property, disallowed
the appeal, although the cost of repairs was high in relation
to the value of the property.
Slum Clearance
Section 1 of the Housing Repairs and Rents Act, 1954, imposed
a duty upon the Local Authority to submit within one year as from
the 30th August, 1954, an estimate of the total number of unfit
houses in the area in such form as the Minister required, and proposals
for dealing with houses within the district which appeared to
be unfit for human habitation and with any other houses which in
the opinion of the authority ought to be included in Clearance Areas.
As a result of the foregoing a survey of the district was made
and the following is a schedule of the property which was submitted
to the Minister.
