Food Poisoning
Two single cases of Food Poisoning were reported in 1952
and both were due to organisms of the Salmonella group but in
neither case was the infecting article of food identified.
Food Hygiene
Continuing the Winter programme in the Clean Food Campaign,
four talks and film shows for traders and the general public
were given in January. A total of five hundred and ninety three
letters were sent, including thirty-three to Head Offices of multiple
firms; posters were exhibited on Council notice boards, and, in
addition, a circular letter was sent to nineteen local organisations.
The response was poor as may be seen from the following table:

Lectures to Organisations
One lecture was given to a Women's Organisation and an
audience of twenty members attended.
Lectures and Film Shows to School Children
In the Spring, lectures to classes of senior school children
were arranged at four schools, and the audience totalled 137
children. Further lectures were arranged in the Summer at Christ's
College and 50 scholars attended. In November a talk was given
and films were shown at another school to 67 children.
