School Baths.
The Council's baths in Squires Lane are available for
the use of the children of all the elementary schools, and
during the year 16,525 attendances were made by 1,561
children.
Co-operation of Parents.
During the year 65% of parents attended routine medical
inspections. The attendance is very good in the case of
younger children but it tends to fall off as the children grow
older, and this is more marked in the case of boys. Many
mothers cannot attend because they go out to work and there
does not appear to be any means of avoiding this. Very few
parents neglect to carry out the recommendations of the
medical officers as regards medical treatment but unfortunately
the same is not yet true in the case of dental treatment.
Co-operation of Teachers.
The closest co-operation exists between the Teachers
and the School Medical Service, and in many instances the
Teachers have been instrumental in persuading parents to
obtain the treatment for their children which has been
recommended by the School Medical Officer. Many children
