the pests.
D (5)p Heating Appliances (Fireguards) Act 1952
and Regulations 1953
Almost without exception, heating appliances sold in
shops are now guaranteed to comply with the requirements
of the above Act and Regulations. With a view of ensuring
that appliances did comply however, the probe test was
applied to 156 fitments, when it was found that all were
satisfactory.
Special attention was devoted to appliances found to
be on sale at second-hand establishments.
D (5)q Mosquito Control
The many ditches which intersect the Belvedere and
Abbey Wood marsh area have been kept under constant
review and in the spring of the year, such watercourses
were treated with D.D.T. and Lindane. Good control was
thereby maintained and no complaints were received.
D(5)r Agriculture (Safety, Health and Welfare Provisions)
Act 1956.
Sections 3 and 5 of the above place duties on Local
Authorities in connection with the provision of sanitary
conveniences at farms and similar premises, of which only
a very few exist in the Borough.
In this regard, the premises have been kept under
review, and the requisite return is being made to the
Ministry of Agriculture.
