D (5)i Rag Flock and Other Filling Materials Act 1951
There are two registered premises in the Borough in
which filling materials as defined in the above Act are
used.
The Act is designed to secure that clean filling
materials are used in the upholstery trade, and applies to
manufacturers' and dealers' premises alike. The two persons
operating businesses in the Borough are dealers, and
in addition to regular inspections made at their premises,
samples have been obtained and submitted to the Prescribed
Analysist for the purpose of testing.

D (5)j Pet Animals Act 1951
There are four pet animals shops at which a wide
variety of domestic pets can be purchased, and trading
seems to have expanded during the year. All the premises
are well conducted and no contraventions of welfare provisions
were observed.
Most of the pet shops now sell a wide variety of prepacked
processed foods which have become popular by
high pressure advertising. In this regard, it is estimated
that £40 million is spent in Britain annually to feed
8,500,000 domestic cats and dogs.
D (5)k Camping Sites
There are no regular camping sites in the Borough.
One licence was issued during the year, and this was
in connection with mobile accommodation provided for the
use of technical staff engaged at industrial developmen
sites, in respect of 10 caravans.
During the year, the area has been free from indiscriminate
caravan squatters.
