Results of Analysis

Atmospheric Pollution. In this connection a deposit gauge and a lead peroxide gauge is in position at the ground of the Royal Alfred Institution, and the analysis of the contents of these gauges for 1958 is as follows:—

(b) In conformity with the request of the above mentioned
Committee, a smoke filter and volumetric sulphur dioxide
apparatus was installed in July, since which time daily readings
have been made and results thereof recorded by the
Public Health Inspectors.
Appended below are particulars of the highest recorded
figures for the period ended 31st December, 1958:--
Smoke: smog level. Sulphur Dioxide: smog level.
200 mgs per 100 cu. metres. 40 parts per 100 millions.
