TOTAL INSPECTIONS
Four hundred and fifty-two visits were paid in respect of
infectious diseases during the year, and the total number of inspections
and visits for all purposes made by the Sanitary Inspectors
was 12,448.
This is a decrease on last year's figure, and is due to the fact
that the Department lost the services of one of its Sanitary
Inspectors in the early part of the year, and the vacancy thus
occasioned has not yet been filled.
An Inspector was appointed in June for the purpose of carrying
out the requirements of Section 58 of the Housing Act, 1936, and
the provisions of the Shops Acts, 1912 to 1936. From the date of
his appointment until the end of the year he made the following
number of visits:—

Shops Acts, 1912-1936 2,418
Total 3,224
