Net Births in the year: —Legitimate: Live births, 2,082; Stillbirths,

Net Deaths in the year:—Legitimate Infants, 75; Illegitimate, 5.
It will be seen from Table II that of the 80 infants who died
before attaining the age of 1 year, 34 died within the first week of
life.
The infant mortality rate for the District is 36 79 and this
figure compares favourably with the rest of the country.
