Eight children are in attendance at Philip Lane School for
the Deaf, Tottenham; these may be classified as follows:—
6 suffering from acquired deafness.
2 suffering from motor aphasia.
One deaf child is at a residential school and 2 deaf children
are evacuated.
Forty-eight children were examined under the Mental Deficiency
Act (1913) during 1944. These were scheduled as follows :
Dull and backward but capable of instruction in
an elementary school 10
Mentally defective but capable of instruction in a
special school 18
Incapable of further instruction in a special school 3
Imbecile 10
Not scheduled (to be seen again) 7
