Mr. Fred Wilson and Mr. T. M. Boswell, Assistant Sanitary
Inspectors, who both hold the Certificate of the Royal Sanitary
Institute a» Inspectors of Meat and Foods, visit the slaughterhouses
at very frequent intervals, and, as will be seen by a reference
to the Sanitary Inspector's Report, they paid 1,449 such visits during
the year, when they examined 5,043 carcases, and secured the
surrender of 2 carcases and 81 parcels of diseased organs.
PUBLIC HEALTH (MEAT) REGULATIONS. 1924.
The butcher's shops and other premises where meats are sold
in the District have all been systematically and regularly visited to
see that the requirements of the Regulations are strictly complied
with. These are however not definite enough to enable us to carry
out what is intended. Some of the butchers keep their windows
down and so keep out the dust, others say if they do this their meat
Is not properly exposed for sale, and in consequence they lose
customers, and therefore refuse to keep their windows down, and so
the meat is exposed to dust etc. from the street.
Bakehouses.
All bakehouses in the District are inspected regularly.
Other Foods.
Every shop selling provisions is inspected frequently.
