Every advantage is taken of the powers given by these Acts to
secure the improvement of the sanitary condition and well-being
of the District and its inhabitants.
PRIVATE ROADS AND STREETS.
I have received the following details from Mr. J. T. Briscoe,
Engineer and Surveyor to the Council:—
During the year 190,049 super yards of roadway have been
treated by tar spraying.
1,500 super yards of flag-paving have been laid in Lincoln
Road.

My thanks are again offered to the members of the Medical
profe?sion in the district. I am indebted to them for many acts of
kindness and help during the past year.
Mr. A. J. Munro, Chief Sanitary Inspector, has again given
me of his best, and it affords me great pleasure to thank him once
more. The other members of the staff are to be commended for
the efficient manner in which they carry out their duties.
