Dear Sir,
I beg to report that I have completed the inspection of the
milch cows in the district, as shown in the accompanying list.
I carefully examined each udder and again found a satisfactory
absence of disease of any kind among them, even the ordinary cases
of chronic udder lesions being fewer than usual. This is due, to a
certain extent, to the loss involved at the present time in retaining
cows that are unable to produce their full amount of milk. There
was no case of tuberculosis of the udder, and the samples of milk
bacteriologically examined gave negative results.
The herds throughout the district appeared, under the present
difficult conditions of food and labour, to be in a sufficiently
satisfactory condition.
I am, Dear Sir,
Yours obediently,
(Signed) H. H. Hide, M.R.C.V.S.

Dear Sir,
I beg to report that I have completed the inspection of the
milch cows throughout the district, as shown in the accompanying list.
I made a careful examination of each udder, and found only a
small proportion of them affected with disease of any kind, and those
were of the usual description, chiefly resulting from ordinary mammitis.
Where necessary I made a bacteriological examination of
the milk, but all proved to be free from tubercle.
Under the present conditions of cow-keeping it is more
economical to dispose of those having defective quarters which do
not give a full yield of milk, and with the exception of cows otherwise
valuable for breeding purposes, this course is generally adopted.
The herds, generally throughout the district, appear to be well
kept and in a satisfactory condition.
I am, Dear Sir,
Yours obediently,
(Signed) H. H. Hide, M.R.C.V.S.
