    We have, however, to suppose that the age and sex constitution of the population of Enfield is identical with that of England and Wales as enumerated at the census of 1911, for which purpose the recorded death-rate must be multiplied by a " factor for correction" supplied by the Registrar-General, viz., 1-0348, and this gives a standardized death-rate of n-66.

    SCARLET FEVER. This disease showed a very considerable diminution in the number of cases as compared with the previous year—148 against 221. These 148 cases occurred in 103 houses, as follows :—
