Widenings and improvements have been made at the following
places:—Passage, Chase Side to Holtwhite Avenue;
Footpath, Falcon Road to Sewage Farm, Ponders End; Duck
Lees Lane, Ponders End; Ordnance Road (near "Greyhound"),
and Lavender Hill.
600 chairs have been provided to parks and open spaces.
Extensive new allotment grounds at Bush Hill Park have been laid
out.
Over 2,000 yards of kerbing and channelling, and 5,000 super
yards of paving have been done in the following public streets:—
Parsonage Lane; Lavender Hill; Silver Street; Forty Hill;
Goat Lane ; South Street; Scotland Green Road ; Carterhatch
Lane, and Connop Road.
NEW BUILDINGS, Ere.
129 houses have been certified as completed and fit for human
habitation and 37 houses have had additions made thereto. These,
together with 18 buildings of the factory class, 3 public buildings,
and 68 other buildings, constitute the full amount of building
operations during the year.
In addition to the above there are the buildings connected
with the new Reservoir of the Metropolitan Water Board at Enfield
Lock, to be opened by the King on March 15th, which also come
under our jurisdiction.
The new Central Library has been completed, and opened
during the year.
THANKS.
During the past year, to my great regret, the School Medical
Officer, Dr. Prudence E. Gaffikin, left the district to take up
another—I hope a better—appointment in Dublin. On many
occasions Dr. Gaffikin put me under a debt of obligation to her
which I was unable to liquidate, and I can now only thank her for
the great help she gave me, more particularly during the time when
Diphtheria was rife among the children.
My relations with the present School Medical Officer, Dr.
Boyd, are of an equally pleasant description.
My thanks are again offered to the members of the Medical
Profession in the district. I am indebted to them for many acts
of kindness and help during the past year.
