on Food Hygiene the new Food Hygiene Regulations come into
force, these Regulations give the Council considerably more control
over the handling of food and of the minimum of equipment
necessary on premises in which food is prepared, sold or stored.
The administration of the Food and Drugs Act caused a considerable
increase in the work of the department and the new Regulations
will add further to the total amount.
The Sanitary Inspectors are maintaining the previous standard of
efficiency and as the new duties under various Acts and Regulations
come into force have attended lectures and discussions, some in
their own time, in order to make themselves conversant with the
details and variations. A certain amount of overtime is necessary
in dealing with Shops Acts, etc., and this has always been undertaken
willingly.
In conclusion I wish to tender my thanks to other officers of the
Council and members of the staff for their assistance and cooperation
throughout the year.
W. K. PICKUP.
