Rodent Control in Sewers.
In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of
Agriculture and Fisheries (Infestation Control Division), maintenance
treatments of the soil sewers in the Borough were carried
out during February and August.
A total of 1,203 sewer manholes were dealt with and of these
506 were found to be rat infested. Poison baits were used in the
infested manholes.
Rag Flock and other Filling Materials Act, 1951.
Seven premises have been registered in the Borough since the
Act became operative, all of which were inspected during the year.
Pet Animals Act, 1951.
During the year 1 licence was granted by the Council and
fifteen licences renewed after the premises had been inspected by
the Sanitary Inspector.
Disinfection.
Number of houses where disinfection was carried out 168

Number of articles disinfected by formalin spray 251
Number of articles voluntarily destroyed 183
The arrangement made with the Hammersmith Metropolitan
Borough Council in 1952 whereby articles to be disinfected by
steam are dealt with at the Scotts Road Depot, W.12, was continued
during the year.
