Medical Examination of Pre-School Children.—The scheme
for the systematic medical examination of children between the
ages of one and five years which was instituted in 1931 has now
become accepted as part of the full scheme of maternity and child
welfare, every effort being made to get all children between the
ages mentioned to attend the Centre each year for medical
examination. During the year under review 1,944 children were
examined, compared with 1,845 during the previous year. The
examination and treatment of these young children is carried out
on the same lines as in dealing with school children and these
examinations serve to bridge the gap before the child comes under
the supervision of the School Medical Service.
