The Death-rate is slightly higher than in the previous year,
10.5, compared with 10.1. Nevertheless, it compares favourably
with that for England and Wales, which is 12.3, and that for London,
which is 11.9 per thousand of population.
The Infant Death-rate of 56 is just one point higher than the
rate for Ealing in the previous year, when it was 55 per thousand
births. The rate compares well with the rates for England and
Wales, for the Great Towns and for London, which are respectively
69, 71 and 59 per thousand births. In Table II the rate for 1927
is compared with the rates for the previous sixteen years.
The illegitimate infant death-rate is 151 per thousand
illegitimate births.
