CO-ORDINATION.
In previous reports attention has been called to the close
co-operation between the Maternity and Child Welfare Staff and
the School Medical Service and to the more or less complete coordination
of the work of these departments. This co-ordination
will be still further developed and made more complete by the
appointment, which has been decided upon, of a whole-time Woman
Assistant Medical Officer, who will devote all her time to Maternity
and Child Welfare and School Medical work.
In the Hanwell area the utilisation of Cherington House
as a combined Maternity and Child Welfare Centre and School
Clinic, which was decided upon by the Town Council in November,
will facilitate the co-ordination of the whole of the work in the areas
of Hanwell and Greenford, which were added to the Borough
on the 1st October

School Hygiene.
Up to the end of September the Education Committee had
under its control twelve public elementary schools, embracing 24
departments: seven for boys, seven for girls, seven for infants,
one for boys and girls, one for girls and infants, and one for
junior boys and girls.
On the 1st October, when Hanwell and Greenford were included
in the Borough, six schools were added, embracing ten departments :
one for boys, one for girls, three for senior mixed and infants, one
for senior mixed, one for junior mixed, one for junior mixed and
infants, and two for infants.
The new block at the Grange School for junior mixed and
infants is nearing completion and should be opened shortly. The
improvement of St. Saviour's School, amounting to almost complete
reconstruction, is nearing completion and should provide the
Committee with a well equipped school. The opening of the new
block at the Grange School will bring about the closure of the Good
Shepherd Temporary School for infants.
