"The Education Committee would have to pay more than
formerly for medical services in connection with the schools but the
nett cost of the whole-time assistant chargeable, to the rates would
be only £73 10s.0d., as indicated in the Table which is attached
hereto.
"Dental Treatment.—The arrangements already made
for the dental treatment of expectant and nursing mothers and
of children under 5 years of age would be greatly improved and
extended if a whole-time dentist were employed by the Education
Committee in place of the two part-time officers at present employed
on school dental work. The whole-time dentist could devote one
session each week to the dental treatment of expectant and nursing
mothers and children under 5 years.
"Health Visitors.—Health visiting has been carried out in
Ealing by three Health Visitors, in Hanwell by one Health Visitor,
and in Greenford by a Health Visitor who has also performed duties
in other parts of the county. Miss Williams, Health Visitor at
Hanwell, although at present due to retire under the Superannuation
Act, will continue her duties until the end of March, 1927, and I
recommend her place be then taken by Miss Rice, who since her
appointment as Health Visitor in Ealing has performed excellent
work. Miss Rice would have the management of the Cherington
Road and the Aberdeen House Maternity and Child Welfare Centres
under the general administrative control of the Senior Health
Visitor.
"The distribution of the work of the Health Visitors has
been arranged for the present as follows :—
Miss Evans (senior) Castlebar and Mount Park Wards.
Miss Farrow Drayton, Grange and Manor Wards.
Miss Rice Grosvenor, Lammas and Greenford
Wards.
Miss Williams Hanwell South and Hanwell North
Wards.
"When Miss Williams retires in March, Miss Rice will take
over Hanwell South, Hanwell North and Greenford Wards and a new
Health Visitor will be assigned to Grosvenor and Lammas Wards.
As the population of Greenford increases the appointment of another
Health Visitor will be necessary.
