In connection with the disinfection of homes after infectious
disease 107 articles of clothing were destroyed.
To render disinfection more thorough 147 rooms were stripped
and cleansed by the owners after notices were served on account of
dirty condition.
MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE.
In the Annual Report for 1925 a general outline was given of
the scheme of maternity and child welfare in operation in the
Borough. In order to extend the scheme and so give equal facilities
to the areas of Hanwell and Greenford, which were added to the
Borough on the 1st October, recommendations were made to the
Council in a Special Report on the subject. The recommendations
contained in this Report, which is printed hereunder, were approved
by the Council and steps are being taken to give effect to them.
Report on the Scheme of Maternity and Child Welfare in the Extended
Borough.
"The whole scheme of Maternity and Child Welfare in operation
in the Borough before the 1st October has been extended to operate
in the added areas.
"It is proposed that a new Welfare Centre associated with
a School Clinic should be formed at Cherington Road in the building
recently used as the Hanwell Council Offices. This Centre would
deal with the Hanwell North and Hanwell South Wards and partly

Mattock Lane Centre but there should be as little overlapping
of areas as possible. At Greenford, a Centre open on one session
each week, should be established at Aberdeen House in the office
recently used by the Surveyor to the Greenford Council. This
would serve as a temporary arrangement until the demands of
that area necessitate a new and much larger Centre. Aberdeen
House as a whole cannot readily be adapted to form a suitable
permanent Welfare Centre and School Clinic, and, as the position
will not be a convenient one to serve the whole of Greenford as it
