which gives a birth-rate of 14 per thousand of population. This is
the same rate as recorded for the Borough of Ealing in the previous
year.
The Death-rate is slightly higher than in the previous year,
10.1 compared with 9.1. Nevertheless, it compares favourably with
that for England and Wales, which was 11.6, and that for London,
which was also 11.6 per thousand of population.
The Infant Death-rate of 55 is higher than the rate for Ealing
in the previous year, when it was 47 per thousand births. The
rate, however, compares well with the rates for England and Wales,
for the Great Towns and for London, which were respectively
70, 73 and 64 per thousand births. In Table II the rate for 1926
is compared with the rates for the previous sixteen years.
The illegitimate infant death-rate was 130 per thousand
illegitimate births.
